The Surrey museum, in Surrey BC, has an electric automobile charging station that charges your electric vehicle in about 30 minutes.
Surrey is the initial city in BC to have two rapidly charging stations, one particular at the surrey museum and 1 at Powertech – a subsidiary of BC Hydro. It amazes me that we can charge an electric auto more quickly than some cell phones. Just consider, where we would we be if “huge oil” hadn’t suppressed the electric automobile 20 years ago?
Surrey also calls for gas stations to give an option fuel service in all new gas stations becoming constructed. I’m not one particular for the government controlling every little thing in our lives, but when it comes to these large industries (Oil) I assume there wants to be some sort of regulation for our protection. If it had been up to “huge oil” we would be consuming even far more then we do now.
There has been a lot of talk about sustainability lately it’s good to see some action. E-Mobility attended the Langley Financial Forum last month and Important Note Speaker Don Burden (Director of Innovation and Inspiration, Wable and Livable Communities Institute) gave a great speech on sustainability and community awareness. He talked about neighbourhoods that are constructed about walking and cycling, not bigger roads for automobiles. A Community exactly where our youngsters can walk to school comfortably and safely, and play in the park alternatively of putting their face in front of a screen.
I like this notion, it’s funny it kind of reminds me of my childhood. Even though in my day (Okay I am officially “old”) this wasn’t an innovative thought, it was just “life”. We walked to college, we played outside, we only watched 1 show on Television, we got dirty, and we employed our imagination. When did “being a kid” get so complicated? Extra cars, a lot more phones, extra computer systems and extra TV’s aren’t as wonderful as the ads claim.
Sorry I got on a bit of a rant there.
It really is difficult to miss the news about the insane typhoon that devastated the Philippines final week. I watched in horror as households and properties were destroyed, and wonder if it could have been various. Our climate is changing prior to our incredibly eyes it’s about time we change as well.
